The physical health of both the male and female partners is of utmost importance in order to produce an off spring. Out of these smoking has the most telling effect on the health and quality of sperm cells.
Inappropriate diet routine also has a bearing on the problem of infertility in males. Deficiencies in essential ingredients like zinc and vitamin C imbalances the effectiveness of sperm cells resulting in infertility. Apart from this, various diseases like mumps, tuberculosis etc. is also known to have an aggravating effect on infertility in males. There are certain diseases which are transmitted sexually like gonorrhea, which also cause male infertility. Male partners suffering from these are also at a risk of transmitting infertility to their female partner upon intercourse.
There are certain medications which also contribute in male infertility. Medications like chemotherapy, treatment of colitis ulcer, anti fungal medications, etc. are major contributors in the problem of infertility. Males who are slightly susceptible to infertility problems are bound to aggravate it if they are consuming any of the above mentioned medications. Use of performance enhancing steroids, causes damage and shrinking of testicles and results in inappropriate functions resulting in infertility.
Various other factors like injuries to testicales; blockages etc. are also possible causes of infertility in males. Lifestyle causes like leading a stressful life, following excessive exercise regime and work environment where the level of environmental temperature is too high are also potential causes of male infertility problems. Apart from this exposure to harmful radiations like X-Rays and other radioactive materials can be potentially dangerous for infertility.
